Following the special exhibition of Yoshitomo Nara, Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts (KdMoFA) has collaborated with Mind Set Art Center (MSAC) to present a heavyweight exhibition: “Tide Table” by Filipino female artist Marina Cruz. This will be Cruz’s first museum show in Taiwan and a fruit of her long-term collaboration with MSAC, which has built a deep engagement in Asian contemporary art and unique tastes in art selection, it serves as the trustworthy platform for collectors. The exhibition is curated by Dr. Patrick Flores, who will serve as the chief curator for Taiwan at the 59th International Art Exhibition, Venice Biennale 2022. The show presents a collection of vital artworks from the artistic practice of Marina Cruz, which involves diverse artistic techniques and media. The artworks on display include paintings on canvases, fabric collages, laminated photos, and embroidery evoked by the artist’s personal history intertwined with the biography of her house comprehensively. Altogether, the collection showcases a variety of aspects of her artistic career spanning over more than 20 years.

新春伊始，安卓藝術很開心舉辦「與自對話」當代藝術展，展出藝術家有瑪莉娜．克魯斯（Marina Cruz）、派翠西亞．伊斯塔柯（Patricia Eustaquio）、鍾江澤、李明則、林煒翔、大卷伸嗣（Shinji Ohmaki）、漢娜．佩蒂強（Hanna Pettyjohn）、石晉華、謝鴻均、黨若洪、鄔一名 、葉世強、余承堯。

Over the years, Cruz has developed an oeuvre inspired by her family’s old clothes made and mended by her grandmother for her mother and aunties back in the mid-20th century. The oeuvre began with exploring family stories and memories, which at the same time reflects the social changes of the Philippines, and gradually expanded into various aspects such as the recollection and weaving of feelings, imprints of time, as well as the rich contents and stories of the dresses in their own rights. In the latest solo exhibition, “Material Maternal”, Cruz continues her close-up depiction of the old dresses, but further transforms the dresses into metaphors of the maternal body: rich, beautiful, soft and full of traces of time, bearing the maternal energy that never ceases.

Mind Set Art Center is delighted to present the exhibition “Every Island from Sea to Sea: Recent Philippine Art” curated by Dr. Patrick D. Flores from 15 October to 26 November 2016. Artists participating in this exhibition are Alfredo and Isabel Aquilizan, Jess Ayco, Buen Calubayan, Marina Cruz, Patricia Perez Eustaquio, Marc Gaba, Nona Garcia, Kidlat de Guia, Cocoy Lumbao, Dominic Mangila, Lui Medina, and Paulo Vinluan.

Following the first chapter, Mind Set Art Center is delighted to present “The Road Not Taken Ch.2” by 11 artists from China, Japan, the Philippines, Malaysia, and Romania to participate in this exhibition.
