WANG Hsiang (b.1998) is currently studying for his master’s at the Taipei National University of the Arts. He mainly uses ink brush as his medium. WANG ignores the massive popularity of flourishing contemporary art theories of our time, and instead immerses himself in woods and valleys to absorb the exuberant energy of nature. His creative process starts with live drawing from intense observation of nature, followed by a reflection phase where the artist mixes memories, imagination and a second gaze at his own work before proceeding to combining all these elements into his own works. The method allows him to break down the barrier between eastern and western painting and lead us into a realm that transcends time and space to experience the charm of art and nature.
