Yang Yu-Ning is a Taiwanese contemporary artist who was born in 1990 and obtained a master degree of arts in Tunghai University. Currently living and working in Taichung, Taiwan, Yang has participated in group shows at Taitung Art Museum and Taiwan Annual. In 2016 and 2017, she respectively took the residency in Finland and Taitung. In 2021, she was selected for the New York Visit Program by the Tianmei Art Foundation, and in 2022, they received the TDCC Contemporary Art Award. Yang’s practice originates from her personal awareness of imagery. By applying ink on bast papers and diversifying color from heavy to light, from light to dark, she manages to present the brushstrokes, the rhythms and ways of thinking at once. The spectrum of ink in Yang’s works show the young generation’s reflections on art and the bond with daily life.
